Professional Work

Methodologies are as important to the creative process as the ideas put forth by artists.

This ideal is the baseline for the way I approach systems design. The more power you give to the artist to create in less time, the more creative you allow that artist to be. Technicalities should be part of the engineering process, not the creative process.

My roots begin at the Kansas City Art Institute, where I finished a four year BFA in Photography and Video in 1996. From my Sophomore year onward, I regularly took part in developing the network and computer systems between multiple departments.

After graduating, I began work in post production right away, building systems for broadcast television stations and universities in a four state area (Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska). Building on that skill set, I eventually moved into broadcast engineering and served as an engineer for KSHB, Kansas City’s local NBC affiliate.

I moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to be with the love of my life, Nathalie, and to further my development as an engineer. I currently work for Telepictures, a company within Warner Bros., integrating the latest technology for tapeless HD workflows for multiple television shows.

Artistry

From 1996 to 1999, I traveled the mid United States doing performances at a variety of venues doing visual projections. Normally I worked in conjunction with an music act or DJ to give the atmosphere another dimension to enjoy. This work was done in partnership with Cyan Meeks under the moniker, Phoenix Video Lightshow, an homage to the resurrection of one’s soul during exposure to new and exciting music.

I also enjoy still photography, my main subjects of interest being nature, self portraits, and music culture. I pen a cartoon every now and again as well.
